T.T / Taiga Takahashi Established in New York, the namesake brand Taiga Takahashi launched its Autumn/Winter 2021 collection under the philosophy of "reviving the relics of the past in the present, to excavate the archaeological artifacts of the future," creating menswear-focused collections under the label T.T. Browsing through the collections, one can feel Takahashi's deep fascination with American and European garments from the early 1900s. Driven by the belief that "the future is in the past," he presents garments where the modern and the future coexist by utilizing traditional Japanese techniques that are gradually disappearing.
· Newly designed through a study of the silhouettes and construction details of 1930s denim trousers.
· The deep rise is intended for wear with suspenders, preserving the rugged and functional proportions of trousers from the period.
· A wide, straight silhouette runs continuously from the waist through the thigh to the hem.
· The generous ease of the original has been carefully adjusted to create cleaner proportions suited to modern wear while retaining freedom of movement.
· Crafted from 100% cotton sateen, with coarser yarns used on the normally concealed reverse side to enhance durability.
· The fabric construction draws from 1950s military garments that used the reverse side as the face, resulting in greater strength and resistance to abrasion.
· Originally intended to remain concealed, the reverse-side yarns were not made completely uniform, giving the surface its distinctive natural irregularity.
· Custom-stamped buttons and the buckle back are made of iron using original molds.
· Finished with a smoked-effect plating, the metal components evoke the character and patina of passing time.
